The slope cut into an embankment on the edge of the tells was covered in a mud-brick wall that was thicker at the base than at the top. A section spanning several metres long has been excavated in the south, the wall (visible in the middle to the left) is a massive construction of mud bricks that is separated from the archaeological layers, which have been cut away, by a gravel sleeve, as shown in the plan. To found this wall, the earth was dug down to levels dating from the 3rd millennium BC.
