TRADUCTION
fZazītu/Nabû-zēru-līšir/Bā’iru said to Bēl-uballiṭ/Iqīša/Ṣāhit-ginê: “Marduk-rēmanni, your eldest son, the son of my daughter, give him to me as son, [let him be my son! (...)]”. (1’) [Bēl-uballiṭ] listened to fZazītu and gave her Marduk-rēmanni, his eldest son, as son. fZazītu consented [to give to Marduk-rēmanni] one sūtu (6 liter) bread and one sūtu good quality beer, the income of the ērib-bīti prebend in Egukug(a), the ziggurrat of Sippar, that he had [given] to fZazītu in a sealed tablet as compenation for ten minas of silver, under the following conditions: “[ (...) ] to [ (...)”. Large gap].
(1”) Marduk-rēmanni shall provide fZazītu of food, ointment and clothing. fZazītu shall enjoy the usufruct of her possessions for as long as she lives. When she dies, her possessions shall belong to her son Marduk-rēmanni. fZazītu shall [not take somebody else] in addition to Marduk-rēmanni as son. [fZa]zītu (?) from her possessions [Marduk-rēmanni/Bēl-uballiṭ]/Ṣāhit-ginê. [ (...) gap ].

REMARQUES
The fragments BM 62708 and BM 79639 belong to the same tablet but do not join directly. There are no traces of seal impressions on the preserved edges.
NOTES
(5’) é-gišgu-kù.ga: The ziggurrat of Sippar is known from Neo-Assyrian and Neo-Babylonian temple lists by the name é-kun4-an-kù.ga “house the pure stairway to heaven”, cf. George 1993: 45-9, 115/672). This name recurs in an inscription of Nebuchadnezzar II (VAB 4 226 iii: 4). É-gišgu-kù.ga in BM 67208(+): 5’ is the first attestation of the name in an economic document. The meaningless component gišgu might have been intended as a syllabic rendering of the logogram kun4-an (for this type of scribal error, see Jursa 1999: 12, 73).
(6’-8’) It is not clear from whom fZazītu received the prebend. If the transaction was part of a dowry conversion the unnamed subject of the verb in l. 7’would be fZazītu’s late husband, Šamaš-mukīn-apli (family Balīhu). The fact that two patrilinear cousins of Šamaš-mukīn-apli were present as witnesses to the adoption supports this idea.
(7’) ik-ku-nu-uk-ma: other examples of a reduplicated first radical in the preterite of the verb kanāku are VS 5 60 no. 197: 5, Waerzeggers 2000 no. 2: 11 and no. 3: 13 (ik-ku-nu-uk-ma), and Cyr 368: 3 (tak-ka-nu-uk-ma).
(2’”-3’”) This clause is also found in an adoption contract from Uruk involving a baby (AnOr 8 14). It is however unlikely that Marduk-rēmanni was a child at the moment of his adoption. Being the eldest of six sons from a marriage that was concluded before Nbn 12, he was probably not much younger than 16 in Camb 02.
