REMARQUES
This text contains important imformation about the cultic calendar of Borsippa (Chapter 3). Ša-Nabû-šū/Marduk-šāpik-zērūtia owned the right to participate in several of the year’s highlights, including Nabû’s procession to and from Babylon during the New Year festival, and the celebrations of the beginning of month vi. It is therefore quite surprising that these rights were in the hands of a person who has left no further traces in our documentation. It is quite possible that Ša-Nabû-šū was a highly placed state official; the fact that he is mentioned without family name might indicate that he was a well-known person.
The ēpišānu is Nabû-ittannu/Haddā/Ahiya’ūtu of the Ahiya’tūu archive, but it is uncertain whether bm 29419 was physically part of this archive. The tablet is situated in “Bēliya’u context” instead of “Rē’i-alpi context” where the other texts of the Ahiya’ūtu archive are to be found. Cf. Waerzeggers 2005: 353.
NOTES
(9) Restoration proposed on the fact that 04, 05, 06/vi constituted a special festive unit in the cultic calendar of Ezida (see §3.5).
