TRADUCTION
– [32? bu]lls, 32 sheep, 32 birds, and 32 lambs (from the offerings) before Nusku, d[GN], Writing Board, and Stylus, of the entire year, as much there is: for 2 minas of white silver;
– 120 remaining sheep (offered) to Nusku and the seat of Ṣarpānītu which is located on the courtyard of Ezida, (and) to Day and to Nanāya Ehuršaba: for 2 minas of white silver;
– daily 6 loaves of takkasû bread, 6 vases of barley beer, 1 thigh, 1 shoulder cut, [1] rib cage: for 6 minas of white silver;
– daily one šappu of wine from (the offerings) before Nanāya Ehuršaba: for 45 š white silver;
– every month one li-mu before Nabû together with the ērib-bīti: for 30 š white silver;
In total: 11 m 15 š of white [silver]. The yield of the prebends of Nabû-balassu-iqbi/ Nabû-šumu-ukīn/Ēdu-ēṭer, including the share of his younger brother Nabû-ēṭer-napšāti, will be at the disposal of Marduk-šumu-uṣur/Nabû-bāni-zēri/Ilšu-abūšu for [x] years. (14) Per year, Marduk-šumu-uṣur will pay 11 m 15 š of white silver to Nabû-balassu-iqbi as yield of his prebends. (17) Whatever from [...] Nabû-balassu-iqbi [...] Marduk-šumu-uṣur will deduct (from the amount due). (19) From 1/XIIa the prebends are at the disposal of Marduk-šumu-uṣur. (20) Nabû-balassu-iqbi has received [x] from Marduk-šumu-uṣur. (21) Whoever breaks this contract will pay five minas of silver. (22) Each has taken a copy. (23) Witnesses: [PN]/Marduk-zēru-ibni/ Kudurrānu, [PN]/Nabû-šumu-iškun/Ninurta-ušallim, [PN]/Nabû-ahhē-šullim/Arkāt-ilāni. (26) And sribe Marduk-šumu-ibni/Šulā/Ilia. (27) Borsippa, Dar 26-XIIa-16.
REMARQUES
This tablet came into the Ilia A archive through Marduk-šumu-ibni’s activity as scribe.
NOTES
(1-2)     The writing board and stylus were emblems of Nabû; it is conceivable that the missing deity in the beginning of line 2 represents another writing tool, possibly the (clay) tablet. Nusku was a god of lighting, embodied by his symbol – the lamp.
(9)         li-mu: it is unclear what is meant here. The signs are damaged but the traces are quite clear. It is presumably some kind of foodstuff or dispensable object used during the offerings and distributed as honor among the temple enterers.
(20)       Perhaps [ha-ar]-mil (a type of meat cut).
(23-5)  None of the witnesses can be identified with certainty (see below). One would expect that this contract, given the huge amount of sacrificial materials involved, was witnessed by high level functionaries of the Ezida temple, but none can be identified as such.
(23)       Possibly Lâbâši-Marduk/Marduk-zēru-ibni/Kudurrānu, cf. BM 102327 Cyr 08 (witness).
(24)       Possibly Nabû-ēṭer-napšāti (also named Eṭēru) son of Nabû-šumu-iškun// Ninurta-ušallim, cf. BM 96372 Dar 02 and BM 21964 Dar 17 (witness).
(25)       Possibly Rēmūt-Nabû (also named Rēmūt son of Nabû-ahhē-šullim//Arkāt-ilāni), cf. BM 27779 no. 25 Dar 08 and BM 82627 Dar 07 (witness).
